    Deputy Minister of Oil heralded the expansion of ties between Iran and Malaysia to US$ 2 billion saying a high ranking delegation from Malaysia will head to Tehran soon.     • Floral festival opens in Iran

    The ninth international festival of flora opened in Mahallat, Markazi province.  The event consists of several parts including flowers, ornamental plants and the related industries. Representatives from four countries and 15 Iranian provinces will put on display their products in 132 pavilions.     • Iranians produce carpet-weaving robot

    After 12 years of non-stop efforts, Iranian experts have successfully designed and produced a carpet-weaving robot. The robot minimizes the time needed to design and weave the carpet to only 24 hours. Only two Swedish and Australian companies have access to such advanced robots. The robot could shift to new designs for weaving a carpet quickly and it enjoys the capacity to work with different kinds of thread.

    • Persian speaking states to form investment fund

    Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan have agreed to prepare a plan to set up a joint investment fund to raise the level of economic cooperation. The agreement was reached during a trilateral meeting between their deputy foreign ministers in Tehran. The three neighbors also issued a statement calling for expansion of cooperation in the fields of electricity, transportation, education, healthcare and cultivation. The statement urges the Persian speaking countries to "fortify and expand" their political, economic and cultural ties, taking measures to fight terrorism and drug trafficking.

    • Annual Condensate Exports from Assalouyeh almost Double

    A senior Iranian provincial official announced that the exports of condensates (natural gas liquid) from the giant gas field of Assalouyeh have almost doubled during the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2009). He noted that the gas production sales have reached US$ 2.342 billion.

    • Iran stock market to see record $5B deal

    Tehran Stock Exchange will witness its biggest deal in its history as Iran's telecommunications company plans to float $5.15 billion of its shares for sale. The company announced that it will offer 51 percent of its stake to private investors to become the biggest Iranian company to be privatized; TCCIM reported. Foreign investors also could buy the shares only in partnership with an Iranian consortium.
